Self Defense
The main objective of our self defense seminar is to teach people how to recognize, assess and avoid dangerous situations. You will learn safety tips regarding street situations, how to be safer while driving your car, and how to make your home safer. You will learn verbal and physical skills that can be applied if confronted by an aggressive assault from either a stranger or an acquaintance. This course will include the following information:
- What "signals" to look for ahead of time to avoid a confrontation.
- How to use your voice assertively to de-escalate problems.
- Facts about when, where and how assaults most often occur.
- Understanding "safe distance" between you and a potential attacker.
- Identify the most vulnerable areas of the body and how to strike them to cause maximum pain, allowing you to escape to safety.
- How to use "common objetcs" such as keys, a pen or an umbrella to protect yourself.
- Pros and cons of carrying mace, stun guns etc.
- "Hands on" practice of defending against various attacks from the front, side and back with partners.
Physical Resistance Techniques include How to use your legs and "core" to develop power
- Fist punch, palm heel strike, open hand strikes
- Elbow strikes
- Knee strikes
- Kicks to the front, side and back
- Stomping
Semianrs are open to the public and meet four times a year. Call for the the date and time of the next session.
